Altitude Secures +25.000t of CORCs from Biochar CDR Facilities in West Africa

Altitude has committed to procuring over 25,000 tons of CO₂ Removal Certificates from biochar-based carbon removal facilities in West Africa, ensuring verification via the Puro Registry.

Altitude, a leading Carbon Removal Financier, has committed to procuring over 25,000 tons of CO₂ Removal Certificates (CORCs) from biochar-based carbon removal (CDR) facilities in West Africa for its Ascent facility. Upon certification, the credits will be issued via the Puro Registry, ensuring high-integrity verification and traceability. The biochar facilities, operating under strict sustainability and verification standards, utilize advanced pyrolysis technology to convert agricultural waste and forest residues into durable carbon storage.

“This agreement marks a significant milestone in our mission to scale durable carbon removal,” said Daniel Benjamin Schulz, CEO of Altitude. “By committing to future CORCs from high-quality biochar projects in Western Africa, we contribute to scaling CDR in the region and globally while supporting local communities.”

The procurement aligns with Altitude’s long-term strategy of building a large global portfolio of CDR credits.

“We are excited to see Altitude emerge as a strong offtake partner in the carbon removal market,”

said Julien Jacob, Head of Offtakes & Investments Solutions at Puro.earth.

“Their long-term commitment to high-integrity biochar projects is  exactly what’s needed to drive investment in scalable and verifiable climate solutions.”
